How Poseidon works
Poseidon is designed throughout with user well-being and care staff safety in mind.
Below is a summary of its most important features.
Stable and safe lifting in and out
The ergonomically designed seat is controlled using advanced software, sensors and motors. The seat is extended and lowered sufficiently to allow the user to sit comfortably. The seat cushion is in two parts and the comfortable backrest is high enough to provide support and great comfort. The footrest is designed to allow walkers and wheelchairs to get close.
The seat is lifted into the shower space with a gentle, controlled movement without either users or care staff having to step on a wet, slippery floor. In practice, Poseidon contributes to a substantially lower risk of difficult slip and fall accidents in bathrooms and showers.
Safe and comfortable shower environment
The shower area is designed to make the user feel safe, secure and relaxed while maintaining personal privacy and dignity. The environment is one that encloses the user while remaining airy, while the curved plexiglass is frosted to maintain privacy. The robot’s relatively low overall height and compact dimensions make it easy for care personnel to move freely around the shower and maintain good contact without infringing upon the user’s privacy.
Easy and safe to use
Poseidon allows users to wash practically their entire bodies themselves – chest, torso, legs and nether regions. The user starts the shower by means of a convenient control panel mounted on one of the armrests. Then, using its simple, clear keys, the user controls pressure, temperature, the soap system and body shower area.
The shower jets and soap solution are distributed separately via a total of 13 shower nozzles. There is also a hand shower within easy reach. Preheated water and a soft start provide enhanced shower comfort. For safety reasons, the temperature range is limited and there is also a cable-connected control panel on the outside of the shower robot for care personnel. The control panels have identical functions, but the external panel has priority. The wash concept was developed in collaboration with clinical personnel from gynaecology and geriatric units.
